Should teachers be able to lower your grade for not turning in homework on time since grades are based on how much knowledge the student has and not his ability to turn in homework?

The school system isn't perfect, obviously. That said, here's the thing: when teachers dock marks for late work, they're actually balancing out expectations; they're creating expectations that remove privilege from the students who have unfair advantages walking into the classroom.
